Original thoughtful design that was unique and appropriate to our site and our lives. Small changes made big differences as we proceeded through design development. Good attention was paid to balancing our desires with our budget. Never would have gotten such a great design without them. Our design will be installed this summer. We are so excited!

Our home is a 6 year old small contemporary loft carefully designed for a small lot. We felt crowded by the slope of the back yard and the incomplete fencing, leaving us little usable space and inadequate privacy from neighbors. We interviewed and hired Lovinger-Robertson Landscape Architects, a highly recommended firm with a deep connection to the Pacific Northwest. They turned this challenging small site into a tremendous advantage by creating a garden which not only suits us but is a logical extension of the architecture into its surroundings, extending our living space into the larger landscape. We now have a rear patio, an expanded side yard facing the entrance, elegant fencing, a marvelously innovative planting plan, a site for grilling, outdoor planters, outdoor lighting, and irrigation throughout. We met our goal of taking advantage of the warm months and having the option of outside dining when our resident adult children and grandchildren visit. At all times we felt that our views and desires were respected. As with other successful, high quality projects we have undertaken in our 50 years of marriage , we were educated and informed and enjoyed the experience immensely. Justine Lovinger designed our landscape, which includes a front area planted with grasses, beds surrounding a back courtyard that includes a pool and small waterfall, and an upper garden of lawn, fruit trees and vegetable beds. She incorporated our ideas for plants we wanted as well as our desire to attract birds, bees and butterflies, and suggested many other plants for the various areas and microclimates within our property. Justine created a plan that satisfied us in every way and that continues to please us year round as the landscape matures. She has also been responsive to questions about what we have growing and has advised us when we wanted to put in additional plantings. (I can't answer the question about cost because I don't remember.)

As a general contractor and custom home builder I could not be more pleased with Lovinger Robertson. They offer my clients a wide range of creative solutions for landscaping and exteriors. They show, through detailed drawings and colorful sketches, that the exterior is as important as the interior.
