I have a beautiful sunny patio area with a recently installed open fire and - backing onto the area is a lawn stretching either side to the front & rear of the flat section.
The section is fenced & has NO trees planted what so ever yet - it is a new house.
Location, lawn is on sunny side of the house- buy also gets prevailing wind which the location is VERY prone to high wind.
My dilemma -
1. Creating an outdoor entertaining area around the fireplace with a flow to the formal garden, to be sheltered & private, formal with a focal point. Trees, plants/privacy hedge, pergolas have been running through my mind but don't know where to start.
I looove thuja occidentalis smaragd (Emerald Green) & Leightons Green trees & have planted thuja occidentalis beside driveway. Also - box hedging-topiary.
2. Planting the garden to create a sheltered and private section, formal styled gardens around the edge with a focal point, but plenty of lawn to play.
Please help.
I am in Wellington New Zealand. It is mid winter & need inspiration.
