We bought our house almost two years ago. I'm still at a loss with what to do with the entrance. When we viewed the house this area had a stand up piano.
You might paint the end wall an accent color, then put a simple canvas painting up. The chest doesn't seem to serve your needs - looks like you need shoe storage, a place for bags and to hang hats .. The odds and ends there make it worse instead of better - Try a long shelving system with art above, and move the chest to the end of a bed or in front of a loveseat. The nighstand / end table needs a chair.
I would paint the wall a more interesting color and hang a piece of art there, like a painting, or even a large print of a treasured photo. Perhaps you could even replace the light fixture with some kind of accent light to highlight that art piece while still providing some illumination.
Beneath, perhaps a shoe rack would serve you better than a randomly placed chest.
I would get some baskets, large flat ones to put shoes and boots under your bench. A large rug in the entry would also perk it up. Maybe a dresser at the end of the hall with vase of flowers on top.
