Thanks Brandi, the roof needs a repaint so we will be painting this a dark grey or black I think. And we need the front fence to enclose the yard :)

Move the fence from the deck to replace the fence along the street and buy another gate of your fancy.

You simply cannot have an attractive house to admire with that old, ugly fence. Face it.

The steps up to the deck should also be removed to keep the deck and house more secure.

Have you considered fencing only the back and side yards, not the front yard?

Hi apple pie, we do not have a back or side yard as our section is very small, the front is our only outdoor area to enjoy so we would like to keep it enclosed. I am not sure if a new fence will be too expensive for us so we are growing trees along that fence to create more privacy and hopefully make it look nicer :) we are more concerned about the fencing around the deck and the colours of the house and fencing

everyone is saying that because you have to much wood, wood pattern, lines going on.

So, the slates on the deck...not working. Im guessing privacy or shade, but i dont see either accomplished i can see right thru it. So remove that. do something different like a rail with lattice at the top. or plain ol' chop it down! I agree with you on that!

The fence stain is much too dark. and kinda looks like,"dont come in here". see the little chunk of painted blue fence in the back of the driveway.. it looks cute and friendly. try painting the fence white or light blue.

the tan color of the painted picture of the house looks good, do an olive trim on the rest.

Remove that awful security light from the front door. put something hanging there.

lastly, heres what im not getting, the stair on the deck are to the right, the gate is centered to the door. ...silly. take the steps remove them and center them to the gate and to the door of the house.

paint the gate white so it pops.

I agree that you should take down the trellis but be aware that you'll probably need to extend your decking rail along that side in order to enclose the deck for building code purposes. If that's more of an expense than you're willing to incur right now, consider at least taking it down to the same height as the rest of your deck and putting a top railing across it. You could then put in some foundation plantings that would climb up and cover the fact that it runs in a different direction than the front of your deck. If I'm looking at it correctly, your gate gives you access to your front door from your drive way. Am I right? In that case, I think your gate should stay where it is. I agree with flair lighting that a new light is in order over your entry. If you like the idea of a motion light, they make decorative outdoor fixtures with motion lights built in. Your fence would definitely look nice painted a lighter color. Right now, as flair said, it's a bit unwelcoming. If you're painting your metal roof, take your house and trim colors from there to coordinate. You could definitely paint your scalloped trim a different color than the house. Matching it to whatever trim color you choose would look great. Do you use the steps from your deck to access your yard? If not, I would consider removing them and closing in that portion of the deck as well. If you do use them, I would add a hand rail for safety purposes.
