Bedroom Wall Art

I have a bedroom that has recently been plastered and painted (light grey). There is a large, bare wall space that I would like to fill with some sort of art (print, painting, photography, etc).

I am looking for you to submit ideas and ideally a link to a piece of art in high resolution that I could have professionally printed, locally. I want the art to make the room have more "personality".

My taste is quite eclectic and the rest of the house has a mix of local and international photography, prints and other artwork. Something framed would be preferable although not essential depending on the piece of art. I am also open to submissions from a single, large piece to multiple pieces.

The included photos should provide a "feel" for the room. Some of the older furniture will be replaced; the black bed will remain.

Hi. My instinct is to use a set of pictures of a consistent style and theme -- and I'm thinking photographs. I think b/w pics would look wonderful, but not with the pendant light you have. So if that is staying, I'd prefer more feminine and colourful pics. If you were to use b/w, I think a slim black frame and a matte that picks up the grey of the wall would be great to transition between that and the photographic grey. Colour could get away with no matte, but I'd still suggest a very slim black frame to outline the images. The colour one came from a common domain site; I've provided the source of the other (though I cropped it -- the original is even better).

PS In both cases the thin black frames would tie in with the black bed very neatly.

I saw the neutral tones with beige/peach accents and thought -- color! I did a screen capture and put in my painting, Child of Eden, because the greens interacted so well with the room. (Not sure about the size ratio -- the framed picture is 30 x 26.) As a fine artist, I tell my clients -- when you choose artwork for your home, the most important thing to look for is what you like, and what makes you smile -- and it will fit into any color scheme you choose, simply because you love it. When we start over-focusing on matching the color scheme, we risk buying something for the color scheme first, and our liking it second. Both you, and the artwork in your home, deserve better than that.

I like your plan but I don't think a pattern on the bed wall is a good idea. The carpet already has a lot of pattern so I'd keep that wall a solid, dark color, from the rug. Add some sparkle like mercury lamps for the bedside tables for interest.

Nice reno :) Few things imo... don't think you need any artwork next to the hexagonal mirror, it could get too busy, if you're after a more balanced look I would move the chest of drawers & mirror to the left more centered on the wall, then relocate the white rack to the other side near the door in place of where the bin is now, not sure the bin should be a feature and be the first thing you see when entering the room, if the drawers have moved that far corner may now be better for the bin... yes the wall above the bed definitely needs some artwork, which I think should be as wide as or wider than the bed, if a large artwork is too costly maybe three squares alongside each other to create the width, stick with the style of the room (can't quite work it out) and pick colours to complement the more permanent fixtures like the blinds rather than colours from the bed linen etc which will change
