Redecorating a tired beach house!
This place needs help.. This is the entry room & will set the tone for the rest of the house. All existing furniture will go, as well as curtains & light fittings. Need to paint the walls in a neutral, add in seating areas, artwork and give the place some beachy wow factor. It's an odd layout with the step up, not sure how to make this work and what that fenced off area is/could be. The entrance to the rest of the house to the right. This is one of three living spaces but with the best access to outdoors, thinking we may put big doors and a deck out where the main window is. Suggestions would be greatly appeciated. Ps the fence outside will be going too!

8 years agoSo the elephant in the room is that room divider. I do think you need to keep something there, to keep anyone from falling off the ledge. Perhaps a half wall or something different like glass with wire or just wire ( see pic) or even a play on the beachy theme with oars or drift wood.
Replacing that huge window with french doors would be lovely. It's a great 'sunroom' area. Painting over the paneling is a no brainer and a lovely pale gray or white will help open up the space. Here's an inspiration photo:
AND just found this brilliant solution to fence off the drop. If you don't need that beam floor to ceiling beam for structure ( or if you just paint it white) this would work too:

Comments (25)There are tons of papers available that would go with your midcentury home. Many people tire of a paper quicker than they are ready to redecorate and they can also look dated in a couple of years. Metallic papers were big im midcentury...perhaps a metallic silver paper? Are you also considering paint? You can get it in so many textures and a blue wall to match the blue in your loveseat would be lovely with some midcentury art and sculpture, or photographs on it. A mirrored wall with or without art or sculpture would also work with midcentury. These treatments are easier to adapt should you wish to change the look slightly from time to time. I would suggest replacing your stairrail with chrome or acrylic if that is in the budget...see how well the loveseat frame looks with the fabric? Comments (9)I would suggest one focal point wall painted John Deere green with huge logo painted on the wall other walls neutral. Maybe sleek black furniture , black rolling toolboxes for night stands, etc. when he gets tired of John Deere then just paint over the accent wall and you're ready for the next theme....See MoreCharcoal coloured carpet?
Comments (12)I have gray carpet in my bedrooms. It is a flat weave from Karastan with a tone on tone stripe. I think it is the most forgiving carpet I've ever had. I do have an Irobot (recent purchase) because of the vacuuming. I have a long haired blond tabby that sheds like crazy, so I have to vacuum all the time. Of course, he sheds on the hardwood too.
