Boring house looking for ideas on how to update
Comments (32)Hi definitely remove the x bars on the deck balustrade. Landscape close to the house so it grounds the house. Trees will make it look less bare. Chose some that work for your area, that are evergreen, and are not going to grow really big. With a really plain house - dark colors will make it look better. Dark Grey, or black with a warm tone so it doesn't have a blue undertone in it. Make sure it is a warm grey or black. Use green foliage around it. Paint out the pergola in the dark grey too or white if you want a different look. Fill in the balustrade where the x is removed with plants in front of those areas. Grow a vine up the pergola that is nice....See MorePlywood on exteriors

Comments (5)Definite improvement over the purple! Don't know what it's like elsewhere, but this colour scheme is very popular in our area. A shame really, it's getting a tad "over-used" and leans a bit to the monotonous/depressing side when there's too much of it. A few houses, fine - too many, not so good....See MoreExterior colour options?
Comments (0)Hi, our 20 yr old home is being renovated to include a double garage off one end. Current colours are the old brown aluminium joinery (staying), the cedar (staying), and roof colour (karaka green?). it all looks rather drab and we would like a modernised twist on the home. I am thinking mid grey, dark grey, or black for aluminum garage doors and the board that runs under the spouting. Spouting will also be replaced, I like the look of copper but this may be cost prohibitive! We have a deck fence that we will also change from the current green, in keeping with the new scheme. Any ideas would be gratefully received please!...See More
