What chore do you NEVER get around to?

Let me set the scene for you:

Sunday night - kitchen cleaned, dishes drying in the rack, carpet freshly vacuumed, washing drying on the balcony and... a pile of ironing sitting on the board from 3 weeks ago. A pile that has slowly accumulated more and more as it sits there. A pile that haunts me every time I walk past!

Ironing is my least favourite household chore to do, so I put it off until my wrinkly clothes beg 'no more'!

What chore do you NEVER get around to?

everything as I hate cleaning bathrooms toilets..mopping..dusting..don't mind cooking would rather cook than clean any day..

Wow!!! thank you so much for responding and for the ideas. Cyn222 I love your drawing of the area I think I might try that one in another spot , I wanted to have an area for a memorial seat, your drawing looks lovely and I think it’ll suit a spot just up the path. It’ll look down over the pond. I'm going to have to work out plan as I learnt that lesson once before. lol. I did wonder about a swing, the large tree sits on the top of a bank, it then goes down about 8 meters. It’s reeeeeally steep. I do like the idea of secret gardens and seats along the tracks. I was tossing up about a waterfall over in the far corner. Since the water flows down a stream and then though the overgrown swamp at the bottom. Gez I wish money grew on trees, lol. Actually I call them ponds but they are really dams on a natural water way. Decoenthusiaste, Thank you, you made a very good point about starting with the ponds and working out. I think you are right. It’ll probably take me awhile to tidy up the area. I’ll also have to check what kind of wild flowers are around as I'm sure there must be some. It would look nice with a bit of colour, I never thought of that. The ground down at the bottom is swampy like wet lands. I also wondered about board walks through it. We are building soon on the land, so this will be the back yard. There is also lot of native bush. Here’s a photo from the side of the pond. I’ll have to get it cleaned up somehow and figure out the best way to improve the water quality. If I start with that 1st, and then do the memorial garden I can then work from there. Lol I’m keen on getting the ashes out of the cupboard. Thanks, you both have given me direction, I appreciate it.

As chookchook said in her recommendation about painting, put a drop cloth on the floor. Get a very safe ladder. remove the lightbulbs, and cover the outlets. Turn off the electricity to the chandelier. Then spray it with a mild cleaner (I use one I found at Target that's basically water with vinegar, until it's dripping wet. Start at the bottom and work your way up, so you don't have dirty spray dripping on the bottom of the chandelier.Work your way up and down until the dripping spray is clean. The chandelier may be gorgeous and expensive, but it seems totally out of place in the architecture of the room--more at home in a chalet than a sunny room with a window wall. I would probably try to find a way to get it removed, and sell it to someone who appreciated it better than I.

Thanks charleee, sorry no better photos as house is in another city, I haven't even set foot inside it yet. I am trusting my husband on this one! Our youngest is 5. Thanks Sheilaskb for the strip suggestion and the advice on the carpet. The kids are really good when we go out, holding onto rails etc but it is another story once we are home. I guess I will need to be a little more vigilant once we move in.

I grew up with these panel doors and remember the glorious day they were replaced by a curtain. So if you are open to the idea, for ease of use, least effort and cost that's a simple fix that your daughter may want herself. The top cabinet doors can be considered a cornice for the drapes, and can be upholstered, maybe in the same fabric as her window curtains, and a simple drape with coordinating stripe on the bottom. Search "upholstered doors" on Houzz, and you will see ideas for nailhead trim, tufting, etc as well. You may also be able to add thin trim molding in a custom design to make them special. Good luck!

I'm pretty good at keeping up with the dusting/washing/dishes/vacuuming - and everything else that you can SEE - but don't look in the drawers and cupboards! I really do like them to be neat but by the time I have done all the other jobs, the unseen places get left due to lack of time. Every now and again (about every 3 months) it all gets too much for me and I spend a whole day tidying drawers and wardrobes!

Ironing, and clipping the dog's toenails. Mind you, I clipped his nails last week. I ironed about three months ago.

Cleaning the windows, which are now thick with dust and curtained with cobwebs. Peering out the windows, the vista actually looks dreamy and romantic. It's a win, all round :)

It used to be cleaning gutters but we wisely had gutterguards installed: brilliant timesaver and no more clogged gutters as we have three enormous trees shedding leaves all year. Cleaning windows is next: when I do them I seem to pick the wrong day as it always seems to rain a few days later and next thing they're all coated n dust again.

I wish I had a pool!! ;-) my fridge never seems to get cleaned - ever!!!

I hate hate hate cleaning these impractical (cleaningwise) bl.... sliding windows and doors plus security screens. Give me tilt-and-turn-windows - so easy to clean and fast!
