Design Dilemma Lighting

Need help with kitchen lighting

Hi New kitchen going in. I don't want pendants over the breakfast bar and it will obscure our view through the dining room to the pool an garden. so going for downlights. I have another view from the kitchen sink window into the side garden so wondering if pendants would look ok there or stick with downlights or a fluro tube. Sorry usless at downloading photos.

When you're doing lighting in a kitchen it's a good idea to have good directed light over the main tasks areas, cooking, dishwashing, food prep. You could achieve this with downlights directed at those areas, or track lighting where you can direct/angle each of the lights on the track. Re the pendant over sink area, would need to be at a height that ensures safety - water & electricity, not a good combo. There may be some NZ standards that you can refer to, to get the correct info.

Two lights are better, but if you use thee pendants, then position the two stools should be in the middle of the center and end lights.Although they will look very huge. Pictures would help.

I think the spanish white in gloss will accomplish what you're trying to do in the room (i.e. make it look warm). The colour will go good with all of the other colours in the room. What did you decide to do?

I love three in ones because if one bulb explodes, you've usually got a fair few backups before you have to completely fix the bulb (but that's just the laziness in me coming out). In my opinion, I don't think you need a demisting mirror because that's what the fan is for in the three in one.
