Changing interior layout but would love advice!
Hey guys, would love some advice on what you think would be
the best layout for our reconfigured home! We’re going back and forth...
At the moment our main front door is an ugly ranch slider which
leads into the lounge and there’s a wall with a hideous archway that separates
lounge from dining room/kitchen which are open plan. We want to remove this
wall, put in a real front door and then big sliding doors right down the side of the
house out onto the deck. But we’re struggling with interior layout. Do we
remove the internal wall between lounge/dining completely so whole space is
open or leave a column that would provide storage for toys and somewhere to
mount TV or do we spend a bit more money and change windows in the current dining room
to give us more wall space? I’ve drafted up a few options and it is all
structurally possible. Also open to completely different ideas too! Thanks in
advance for any input! (Not all fittings/doors are accurate but hopefully it
gives general idea!)

Comments (3)Try the TV where the sofa is now and float the sofa perpendicular to the fireplace where you currently have the big chair. Perhaps the big chair can then go where the TV was for a quiet spot for one. It’s quite a large space, and I’ve leant towards the current layout and adding a window to the side wall where that cupboard is. But I love the idea of a sink at the window, and also think the sloping ceiling would look better with the sink on that wall. Thanks very much for all your feedback. Just to answer a few queries - the deck is directly outside the main room so the new doors open out onto it. The doors won't be French - they're just the only doors that the 3D planner I'm using had, they'll actually be large stacking doors. I've had another idea too which would be a lot more expensive but offers a completely different approach. This is quite rushed so doesn't show accurate layout of kitchen or anything like that, basically just provides an idea. Thoughts!?
