Need some ideas for my ktichen walls please

Have just had a new kitchen fitted, white gloss cabinets, with black sparkle worktops with red splashbacks. My walls have to be redecorated and want a colour on the walls, of which there is not that much wall space, other than white. Any suggestions welcome.

Picture would be lovely :) but I'd take a punt at a dark, charcoal-grey colour or possibly even matching the tiles and taking the red up the walls too? Failing that a warm wood colour maybe (what is your floor surface?). Good luck!

Our kitchens are not just a place we find comfort in cooking to unwind, and of course where a lot of us eat, it is a place we often choose to entertain and socialise.

Our kitchens can be our public display of our style tastes, and one of the pleasures we get from this is that 'WOW!' we get from visitors.

You have painted a clear image of your kitchen, and I can imagine it looks amazing.

Modern, Chic, and stylishly put together, to get a clean, strong statement about your positive, and strong personality.

Dramatic shades of Grey and Charcoal are important role players in a monochromatic scheme, with a bold accent feature (Red).

Similar to other neutrals they can be really varied, for instance some greys can add a real sense of depth to a small area of a space, allowing the other elements around it to 'pop'.

Greys and charcoals also work extremely well in areas that are uses a lot during evenings, with the correct lighting they can help set a mood to create a foundation for your theme, to give you a real stand out wow!

Using a paint that is matt will compliment the light properties of the glitzy worktops by contrast, creating a lux-contemporary feel to the space. I have given a couple of examples for an idea book below.

With a nice clean space like that you can go a lot of different ways. I would start by looking at shower curtains, because they can become the focal point. When you find one or two (or more) that you like, you can play off of the colors in the curtain to find the color towels, bath mat, and even wall color. Some ideas: You could go classic black and white, with a touch of something bright if you want for an accent (like the fuscia in the photo) Or something "spa-like," in acqua and cream. Or you could go bright, with teal and lime green. Another classic look: tan walls, white and/or tan towels and bathmat, simple white accessories. Good luck!

Congrats on your new home! The entry would look up to date if you lined the underside of the porch, that white wall, and the outside of the glass wall with spaced horizontal battens. ModWood or EzyWood or something similar. You could put the hanging planters on the white wall battens and they would really brighten the entry. You could also replace the spotlight with something more elegant.

Well the piece above the fireplace really overwhelms the space, and most specifically the fireplace. Is there another wall space anywhere that can showcase it? trying to use this piece in such a small area makes everything else lose its appeal, it has to fight to be seen. For sure move the sofa where it faces the fireplace, or set at an angle facing where you hv the TV set to be mounted. If you can, leave the chair in the same area, use the table the TV is sitting on as a coffee table for both. The way that makes the space work is the way you need it.

Personally , I wouldn't use that wallpaper -- it doesn't suit the apartment style IMO . I assume she wanted to add some focus and colour , but to me it doesn't work . To make it work ( or at least not 'jar' ) if she does insist on the wallpaper , pick out the burgundy or red of the wattle flower ( or whatever it is ) , and do a wall opposite it in that exact same shade , or maybe the kitchen area if you have good masking skills . The animal skin rugs look great , but the couch is 'lost' -- add cushions in the same red or burgundy as the wall , or go even brighter red or burgundy . Rest of the walls can be left as they are ( depending on wall condition ) or any similar neutral ( aka bland ) grey or cream , or possibly even a light steel blue .

Thank you to both for replying to me, would just like to say, I do not have tiles I have pillowbox red glass splashbacks , but to be honest looking at reply from michaeljhaladedsigns those red tile with white grouting look fabulous but its too late now. My flooring is different shades of beige in a various stone shapes in a heavy vinyl, as I have dogs and that will be more serviceable. I like to have a warm feeling in the kitchen but with all the white and black worktops, I feel I need to warm the walls up. Grey I am not sure of and I had thought about keeping to the red of the splashbacks and painting the walls red also. Any thoughts on that please?

Reading your reply to the comments so far, moving away from the greys and charcoals onto warmer colours/ tones..

Complimentary colours of red are blues, you should try and not go too bright/ hot with your complimentary colour against the red to keep the contemporary slick feel.

The Blue will create a new dimension to the space even when used in small amounts. This will also let you use similar blues to accessories your kitchen space, and even tie in the scheme with pictures/ paintings that are dominantly blue.

Hi,
an image off the space will be more helpful in determining a colour but going with the information you have provided I'd say the following.

What is the size off the kitchen and how much natural light are you getting. I feel that you already have a nice balance between warm and and cold colours with the reds and beige colours off the splashback /floor paired with the white cabinets. I would opt for a nice greige or light grey colour which would co-ordinate with the flooring and the splashback.

Personally, as you say you don't have much wall space, I wouldn't introduce a new colour and rather opt for simple natural colour and if you feel you need more colour and vibrance then would do see with accents.

Going with the red black and white theme, I can't help but think off the Orla kiely storage cannisters....

Hi. I do agree it would be good to see how much wall there is if you intend on using a colour :) a warm neutral like the first pic would work or potentially farrow and ball French grey as shown below but I think it really depends on splashback to wall ratio. If you want warmth I would also look at mixing different textures for your accessories and include wood for chopping boards, bowls etc and also add a couple of herbs. I also cheat and go faux with stems, eucalyptus and pussy willow look great mixed in a simple glass vase, the white company Is selling some great pussy willow ATM
