Kitchen lighting- new build.
Comments (0)My partner and I are designing our new build and we are now up to lighting, in particular kitchen lighting. We are having non-exposed scissor trusses in the living area with a lowered flat ceiling (2.4m stud) over the kitchen. Do we need pendant lighting? I am torn. I feel they are dust and grease gatherers, but also a great visual feature. I have attached a picture of our plan and inspiration for the living area. I am extremely grateful for any advice!...See MoreCurtain and wall colour advice
Comments (1)Textured linen or with a subtle print wont date. Feature walls make a room smaller as they jump out ar you. Wouldnt recommend. Get some interesting art or craft. Pick up colour with accesories...See MoreNeed advice on Wall colour please
Comments (4)Personally , I wouldn't use that wallpaper -- it doesn't suit the apartment style IMO . I assume she wanted to add some focus and colour , but to me it doesn't work . To make it work ( or at least not 'jar' ) if she does insist on the wallpaper , pick out the burgundy or red of the wattle flower ( or whatever it is ) , and do a wall opposite it in that exact same shade , or maybe the kitchen area if you have good masking skills . The animal skin rugs look great , but the couch is 'lost' -- add cushions in the same red or burgundy as the wall , or go even brighter red or burgundy . Rest of the walls can be left as they are ( depending on wall condition ) or any similar neutral ( aka bland ) grey or cream , or possibly even a light steel blue ....See MoreClient wants advice on tidying up front
Comments (1)What do they want to achieve , and what is their budget ? just to get ideas rolling , if it was my place , I would offer the following -- -- the garage looks a a different style and different shade of grey . I'd repaint in the same grey . -- I'd paint the front door in a brilliant red , and the narrow garage door surrounds in the same colour -- tie it in a bit better . -- 'Hide' the four flaxes the same shape and colour ? I'd add 3 or 4 tall or bright easycare plants -- a cactus , a yukka , a native , get some variety , maybe even remove a flax or two . -- I'd add a couple of big 'egyptian' pots , at least 800mm wide and at least a metre tall , one each side of the driveway ( on the grass ) , placed so they look random . Fill with a mix of plants of your choice -- at least some in red shades to tie in with the front door . -- I'd price a light covering of tar / asphalt over the driveway , to tidy it more . A good start on a budget , hopefully under $10K ?...See MoreC P
