Wood panel wall

What's the best way to go about doing this? T&G or plain timber? Want a dark finish so wondering whether to go with cedar & stain it a walnut colour or pine & do the same. Anyone ever done this before??

Cedar takes stains better and more evenly than pine does T&G is very nice what other options do you have ?

I would go with a walnut stain with a wood with small grain and no knots. This would be consider a modern look. Or mid century modern. Which is back in style. Cedar would be best over pine.

Hi You will always see the joins if you look closely. There are two trains of thought . One is to make it a feature or try hiding it . The carport ceiling is hardie groove. Andrew
