The setting is quite tropical, so a darker scheme with white trims has such a tropical holiday feel. You may consider using a concrete face brick for the lower section. This will be modern, and eliminate the need for painting, while still creating contrast with the upper level. Try a colour for the main house like Resene Evolution, or Quarter Evolution, both would be perfect for your style of home. Thank you Courtney. The challenge is going to be not scratching the powder coated frame. Since posting I have heard that thick solvent based strippers are best, but I'm going to try and remove as much as possible by lifting the loose paint and carefully scraping and scrubbing as you suggested.

We are in the design phase for a new build. We have quite a lot of glazing in our design (lots of North facing windows, including 6 panel opening door) and we are looking through our options for thermal performance. If we were only able to afford one of thermal broken aluminium or low e film, what would you pick? Are they worth it for our climate (Wellington)? Advice welcomed!
