Any help appreciated! We want to update the exterior of our seventies, split material house. We live on a semi-busy road near the coast so we want to give the house a relaxed beachy feel whilst maximising the privacy.
We have a modest budget and trying to decide where best to spend our money. I am currently changing my mind everyday about what would be best to do. Current idea:
- Spray paint the house something dark like Resene Tuna
- Extend the deck right around the house and make the railing chunky (but with the railings very close together to create privacy from the road traffic).
- Build a tall front fence that matches the deck and make the width of the drive wall smaller
- Make the downstairs window on the right a front door and add a veranda here to make it more of an entrance....
- Update the landscaping to something laidback/beachy
Eventually we would also want to replace all of our windows.
Are we on the right track? Some days I think we need to render... we definitely don't want to leave the brick/concrete brick the colour it currrently is as it looks very dated.
I've changed the colour of our house and copied some deck railing I like onto it here:
