Help with 1960s kitchen design

Hi. We have a 1960s house in New Zealand which has the original kitchen. We are wanting to replace this but having problems working out the design. The major issue is the oven is right next to the back door (which is the only access to the back yard and we have a dog and a 6 year old who has little friends over). The oven is also near a window but is a free standing oven. We don't have the budget to change the exterior door, window or walls around so need to fix the issues using the kitchen cabinetry design. We had considered moving the oven to the other wall to get it away from the door but have the issue of taking a hot pot across to the sink (when someone may be going past). We have also considered moving the oven along and putting a 150mm cabinet next to it so it is away from the door but not sure if this is enough of a barrier. We have also thought about putting the oven and sink on the other wall together but it could be a bit tight. The other big issue is the bench return by the dining table which makes it hard for people to get past the dining table. So we would prefer to just have the kitchen as a galley kitchen to make it more open and easier to get out of the dining area (although we had considered using some type of return at the other end to help deter people entering the kitchen). The design we are leaning toward at the moment is having on the exterior wall starting by the outside door a 150mm cupboard with small bench, then freestanding oven, then 600mm cupboard, dishwasher, drawers. Sink and bench over this (although need to work out where the dishwasher can actually go but I don't want to be prepping veges etc while standing in front of a hot dishwasher). On the other wall the fridge with cupboard unit over, 600 pantry (though not sure about having oven and fridge across from each other), then bench with drawers or cupboards (450mm and 600mm) and above this microwave on wall in unit with cupboard above it and cupboard next to it. ANY ideas or advice on how to best make to make this all work would be super appreciated. Thank you so very much.
