Removing old kitchen floor coverings

I'm hoping for some advice about old kitchen floor coverings. My kitchen had a wooden (Tasmanian Oak) original floor from 1962. It still has the original linoleum tiles in mustard and green underneath a later update of mock slate tile vinyl. The vinyl is loose - it's just been laid on top of the original lino tiles. I'd like to restore the floor to polished wood, but I have a problem with the lino tiles. They have been stuck down, but are quite easy to remove. There is a sticky residue left (not thick) of some kind of adhesive left after they are taken up. Does anyone know of a solvent that would remove this prior to restoring the wood floor? Any advice gratefully received!
