kitchen window dilemma

we are trying to plan our kitchen with an island bench . there is not a lot of wall space for appliances with all the windows (which i love for the light) thinking of putting the fridge where the stove is and having the island run parallel to the sink and leaving that thorough fare for a walkway out to the wash house and stools at the island.
where to put the stove and panty???
any advice greatfully received

well it's been quite a journey for us with our one time kitchen reno in our forever home!
obviously not finished , lights ( making our own pendants out of bamboo cloche's) tiles, moss green narrow subway(I know right?!!! bound to have For's and against)roman blinds, island bench top (formply at the moment lol) etc etc but super proud of seeing our ideas come to life!!.
we chose to have push catch for the cabinetry so we didn't need handles apart from the pull out pantry and bin draw which being heavy has to have a handle (narrow kethy black timber handles) but what a mistake that was!!!! the draws open when you wipe them and even when our furry kids lean against them! The installers are coming this Friday to tweak a few things that were measured incorrectly (disappointing at the time) and they are going to alter the mechanisms so they are just soft close ,probably an expensive error on our part...... however we think it's a 90% pass

Hi Sharon. I agree would be good to locate the fridge in a better more functional location, and free up the path to the exterior door. Are you wanting to relocate your current stove/oven or would you be buying new? Moving it will of course require help of electrician or gas plumber. Can't tell from photo if it's gas or all electric?

looking at the entire space, which includes the open plan kitchen, dining and seating area (window seat too), you have a potentially large area you could consider in your rearrangement of appliances. Would you be able to post a floor plan/sketch of your kitchen & dining area with dimensions and location of appliances? I believe this will invite some very helpful advice.

I love all your ideas....bu as we currently have a new + good bin in there already, i don't want to spend another $100+ on another..and this is only a temporary solution...for the nxt few years..as the kitchen won't last much longer. I already have my 'kitchen' cleaning products under my sink..which is unfortunately a separate cupboard to my bin. We couldn't fit the bin under the sink! Prob not much point me taking the cleaning stuff out of my laundry to put in the bin cupboard!! I think i might put some plywood up beside the bin to keep one side of the cupboard separate! That way i have at least 1/2 cupboard of useful space!!

Treating the sliding doors as a modern insertion and keeping the rest traditional could be striking. However, what does the house need from the interior? If it needs more light/views opening the house further with larger windows could be great too. An important detail for the sliding doors will be the casing (trim) - whether modern and intentionally different or matching the rest.

Thanks for your comments , we are thinking of putting the stove where the clock is and having abench top extractor, it is electric and will be staying for a while.
have seen some great ideas of built in fridge cabinets with pull out pantry to the side so thinking the current stove wall should be big enough for that.
since posting we have thrown some paint around to freshen things up till we can afford the reno, also we sold our ebay dining table and will leave the space open for now as we never used it!! thanks again :0))

Hi Sharon. Wow, you have done an amazing job! The paint looks great and what a lovely cheerful feature wall. The fridge looks much better ther and must be so much better for you having it closer to the action. Love the white cabinet next to it. Also, that's a beautiful window seat. In fact, your house is really lovely, with so much natural light and views to outdoors. It must be a very cheerful space for you and your family.

I think the current stove wall would accomodate your fridge (integrated) and pull-out pantries as you have planned. I'm unsure if your freestanding stove will fit comfortable in space where clock used to be, as it would be pretty close to the sink. Unless you plan to have a new sink in diff configuration? I'm just thinking there's not much space between stove and drainboard for sink for you to place things while using the stove. Of course, if a new sink had drainboard running out the left side, that would give you some benchtop space btwn sink & stove. What do you think?

Another thing occurred to me, do you think there will be adequate space for moving thru that exterior doorway past where the proposed new Integrated fridge/pantries will be? It might just be the angle of photo but seems a bit close to me.

I really like the idea of an island bench/cabinet running parallel to the sink. With overhanging bench you could have stools. Glad you were able to sell your round table and chairs (they were lovely too)!

is your stove induction? It looks like it from photo. Or is it a glass hinged top?

it is induction and pain to clean as the oven is sooo close to the groun

That's a nuisance, Sharon, maybe in your plans you might be able to sell current cooker and find great deal on new cooktop & oven? I know all this business takes time; otherwise, good exercise, not so much! :)

What a great result. just a thought we have Plywood benchtops which we sealed to give it a hard surface, I would get some advice on what you could use to seal your black coated Ply.
