I wish it would become more mainstream.

All building designers, whether they be architects, draftsmen, custom or project buildersz should have to consider the builds sustainability. Both in terms of embodied energy & ongoing energy efficiency.

Sustainable architecture is most definitely not a fad, it should set the standard for future developments.

my Dad was a builder working with some exciting architects from the early 50's and always advised to build for long term comfort and to recycle as much as possible (our family home was mostly built from materials salvaged from demolitions by clients who didn't understand the value of quality original fixtures discarded for the latest fad)...i still have some of his old plan books that describe building to suit pattern of sunshine etc..unfortunately, all these years later, costs seem to be so much higher (because we build so much bigger) and decorative finishes seem to be given priority over insulation and orientation but most HOUZZERS are keen to improve
