clear coat or stain on the douglas fir?

I have noticed that doug fir tends to be red toned. I LOVE the color in this picture. What did you use to manipulate the color? Thank you.

As I recall, we used vertical grain douglas fir with a clear finish. We didn't do anything to manipulate the color. Best of luck with your project(s). - Mark
