Narrow shady garden - help!

last year
My new front path winds past bathrooms to get to the front door. This has left me with a quite narrow (0.8m x 4m) stretch of garden in full all day shade.
I'm unsure about planting for full shade, which will look tidy and attractive for the front entrance, has a little height perhaps, whose roots won't disturb the path or drains.
I'm also keen to disguise or distract from the sound of any "bathroom activities" with perhaps a water feature?!

A nice flowering hedge would give you height to disguise the bathroom windows and seasonal interest. Michelia gracipes or a camellia sasanqua both cope with shade and can be kept clipped tall and narrow. Michelia is also fragrant as are some of the camellias.
