You've got the perfect house for it, clean and simple, it can go any way you want. First, select furniture with an eye to maximize the views. Here's a room from your ideabook that does that. Once you've decided what pieces you need and where they will go, find the room in your ideabook that has the exact feeling you want and use it to inform the styles and colors you choose, Put everything you're thinking of buying (along with stuff you already have) on an inspiration board, then swap things in and out as you work to complete your design. Don't buy any big stuff till your design is mostly complete. Nothing worse than falling in love with and buying a rug, and then finding there is nothing else in the whole wide world that goes with it....See MoreFeedback on floor plan for open living area in new build
Comments (4)To me it looks like it would be better to have a smaller kitchen as being a 1 bedroom place the living/ kitchen area is quite small. I think having the essentials along the bedroom wall is good but the island makes the living area too small in the first plan, and in the second the cabinets make the walkway too narrow. I would put sink, fridge, oven along the bedroom wall then make any other bench and storage space more like moveable furniture to make the living area seem bigger. The kitchen may be able to be shut off behind doors (a bit like a euro laundry) when not in use to make a much bigger living room, especially if it isn't used a lot....See MoreNeglected bungalow given a new lease of life - before & after

Comments (12)Thank you for your comments. I really appreciate your help. I think we are on the same track. The rugs I have brought home have fought with the terracotta colour plus the busyness of the small tiles. I did come across this picture on Houzz, which I think looks good. What do you think? It would need some of that burnt orange from the chair upholstery as well as the aubergine to tie in but I liked the dark border line, it matched with the grout....See Morecuddlz88
