I like the idea of a fancy front door. However being in Brisbane, Queensland, my partner feels we don't have enough porch area to protect the door from weather exposure. Thoughts? (1st pic is our front porch area. Other pics are ideas..
My front door just has the usual eaves for weather protection, however, the stained timber door still lasted about 25 years. When I got it replaced the builder suggested that a painted door would last longer. A decorative door doesn't cost much more than a plain flat door, and I think a plain flat door will show every mark and ding. My door has 4 glass strips, looks good.
I agree with me me, you could have a gorgeous front door and you could put a fabulous screen between house and pillar, this would add extra protection and would look fabulous from inside and out, you could make it as ornate or streamlined as you like.
