Renovation road map

Hi, I want to do some renovations to my home in stages as I can afford it & want to know if architects can / will draw up an action plan I can use as a reference guide?
Obviously costs will increase over time, but even an estimate will put things in perspective. I renovated a 50's house in Melbourne & have a fair idea what I am capable of doing myself & what I would rely on tradies for. This time around on the Gold Coast its a 90's dwelling with its own issues & I need to know what's load bearing & what isn't?
If I'm worrying about problems that don't exist or over-thinking solutions?
And if done in stages what provisions I need to plan for in subsequent stages?
Is there a professionally recognised term for this kind of road map & how much will I need to plan for employing an architect to set me on the right path?
