Incomplete House Consents
Hi,
I just need a little bit of advice..
I recently requested the previous Building Consent forms for my house.
Its is a 1961 two storey house. There are two seperate residential parts to it... The bottom part is A and the upper part is B.
I requested the Building Consents for the property merely calling it for example "86 Whatever Road".
I got back the consent forms and it has only the first storey. The second storey doesnt exist. However in the documentation it says...
Specification
Generally 1. The work consists of the erection of the bottom storey of a future two storey dwelling in timber and resting on concrete foundations.
So despite only having the drawn up plans for only the first storey the second storey is mentioned. The building is all made at the same time as far as i can tell probably between 1961 - 1965. The second storey even has a ZIP water heater under the sink from 1962.
But there are no more plans for the second storey. I am worried about asking the council as I don't know anything about this, I have never really had a very good experiences with them and I am unsure how they would react.
What I am wondering is... I asked for the singular house number and road consents. But now it is a house number with A and B attached.
Do i possibly have to ask for.. example 86A and 86B? I would have thought they would just provide the lot if I asked for 86 Whatever road. But i guess also at this stage on the plans... there was no A and B!? So perhaps only the plans for when it existed as "86 Whatever road" were provided.
Do they give all the plans for the whole property.?
Also they are legally seperate dwellings they are on the council maps as A and B... so they do know about them....
Can anyone provide any info around this? Do I have to be careful when engaging the council about a house of this age? Could it be that the information I need is just under an A or B naming convention.
Anyway.. confused and hoping someone with knowledge in this might be able to give me a clue before i engage.
Thanks in advance.
