Making the decision to renovate or build a home or office is an exciting challenge. Making the choice of bench tops, floor tiles, taps, sinks, bathroom fittings and so much more can become all consuming project and well worth investing research time to make the right choice.

The Marble Man would like to assist you with this process and give some insight into “Choosing your Stone”. Our website breaks down how to make the decision. Consider a few differing variables. We ask the questions for you to work out the best stone for “location and use”. https://themarbleman.com.au/tips-for-choosing-your-stone/

Location - how will you be using the stone? Make sure the stone you choose is suitable for the purpose. Such as Granite rather than marble in the kitchen and bathroom vanities. Granite is less susceptible to etching and staining. Give yourself time to research stone and speak with the supplier you will be buying the stone from. As stone specialist the company you buy your stone from will give you valuable advice. Breaking down the facts - then make your choice.

Will the stone be -

  • used indoors or outdoors?
  • for a functional or aesthetic purpose?
  • in the kitchen, bathroom or foyer?
  • used in a wet area or dry area?
  • consider the impact of floor tiles - exposed to constant foot traffic?
  • could acidic foods (salt, strawberries, lemon etc), liquids (vinegar, wine, sugary drinks etc), cosmetics - be used on the stone surfaces in kitchens or bathrooms?
  • hot pots in kitchens and next to BBQ areas can damage the stone - no stone likes direct extreme heat?
  • in bathrooms and showers soap scum must be factored?
  • slip resistant floor tiles?

Don’t get confused by stone. Natural stone is a stunning addition to the interior or exterior of your home or office. It can take many forms, from a marbled bench top or floor, as a display exterior or internally to be enjoyed. There are many uses of natural stone in the home - think fire places, floors, bathroom vanity, walls and showers and most of all; your kitchen benchtop in the heart of the home.
