Furniture Design Dilemma Living Room

Need advice for furniture layout for living room

I need advice regarding furniture placement for a living room. The room is 6640 x 5300mm. There are floor to ceiling windows on two sides of the room; a third wall has a TV/fireplace and large recessed sliding doors (so that the room can be closed off from the kitchen/dining area); the fourth wall has two hydronic heaters (the gap between the two panels is 3000mm).

The room is currently a blank canvas - filled with mis-sized hand-me-down furniture. So we're looking to start from scratch - sofas, coffee table, rug and anything else that will make this a well furnished room (ottoman, book case, side tables? etc).

I'd especially like advice on sofa and rug placement and sizing but any other advice would be great. Thanks in advance for your help!

What a beautiful light filled room. Do you need a tv in the room? Do you need window coverings? Love the concealed sliding doors.

Oops just noticed the tv. What else is the room used for? Does it need toy storage?

If this photo from your ideabook is the look you are going for, try adding a rug and inexpensive coffee table. To keep budget down, try an indoor outdoor rug you may find on sale at the end of the summer. The other thing you could change easily would be curtains or other window treatments in a zingy color or pattern. Perhaps there are curtains in another part of the house that could be swapped with these? Try taking them down to get a good look at the blank space possibilities.

That is a really small space,I think maybe an apartment size sofa would help you get the look you need and a smaller table or even removing the table and using two bar stools

Hi I have recently moved into a new house and am needing some advice on how best to utilise the living/dining room. The room is a bit tricky as there are very few walls with no windows/doors to place the TV on. Currently with the set up the angle between the TV and the sofa is not great. I also feel that with the current layout there is a lot of wasted space in the middle of the room. The photos are from the house listing so that is not my furniture...I currently only have the furniture in the floor plan (minus to 2 arm chairs but I would like to get some arm chairs for a reading corner) Any advice on where to best position the TV living area and the dining are would be great. We recently moved into a new house with a separate living room. It’s an awkward space due to having two doors and a set of French doors and I’m finding the layout particularly challenging. As we haven’t had a separate living room before and can use our existing furniture in other parts of the house, we are in a position to buy new lounge furniture and are considering a sectional sofa or a sofa with two armchairs. There are existing recessed motorised roller blinds (pale grey). The room is used as a kid's play space by day and an adult living room by night. Toys are stored in bedrooms at the end of the day and the dolls house is not a permanent fixture!
