Layout my kitchen!
Comments (15)The first thing I require each of my clients to do before even starting the design layout is to choose their appliances. Your kitchen designer will need the manufacturer's specifications to know what size to make the cabinets to accommodate them. Be aware that there is required distances needed around and island, typically 36" up to 48" depending on placements of appliances. This will dictate the size and shape of the island. Clean lines, simplicity, innovative materials like glass countertops, exotic woods or Italian veneer slab doors, flip or lift up doors can add unexpected touches to a modern/ contemporary space. Here are some photos of one of my favorite Euro Modern kitchen I did for one of my clients not long ago....See MoreNeed help for layout of my kitchen!
Comments (2)So you dont think we need bench top on both sides?...See MoreKitchen layout — help please!!
Comments (1)With the pantry being located where it is, it provides a opportunity to make it inbuilt and continue your bench top along. This would then provide more bench space and would make sure you are using that wall to its full potential. However for space and flow and to make your kitchen more ascetically pleasing, we would suggest keeping the island bench and making the appliances integrated. This provides opportunity to make that far wall a feature wall, which can be as simple as a blackboard or pictures, to making it a colour feature (depending on you cabinetry) or even to make it high class you could create a wood paneling feature. I hope this helps, either way you can add bonus features to your kitchen, you can create more storage and bench space with changing the pantry, or you could make a design feature out of that wall. It is up to you and where you design flair may take you. Good luck! :) If you would like to see these designs with a quote please call us on 03 423 9067 and we can organise a free one for you. Below are some pictures - in built pantry vs. feature wall. (making where the appliances are a low bench top with below cabinets). (goes beautifully with a black and white colour palette)....See MoreSome help with a bathroom layout please?
Comments (7)I agree you probably need to centre the vanity and the cabinet on the wall or they could look a bit odd! You don't say why you don't want a space between the window and the vanity - just my opinion, but I would think 300mm could be quite useful for a bin, a clothes basket or box, or a small stool for putting clothes on? The only alternative to leaving a space, is to fill it with something as the response above suggested. To avoid it interfering with the window, you could make this something lower, so it sits level with the top of the vanity. This could be built in and the wall lining put over it to create a single "shelf" level with the underside of the vanity top, or if you can find some freestanding open shelving of the correct width, which could also be cut to the correct height, you could wedge that between the wall and the vanity side when fitting the vanity. Just bear in mind also, that you'll lose some of your towel hanging space if you put something too high in the space....See MoreKate
