"Extended Height" toilet suites are exactly that - seats that are higher off the ground to assist people with poor mobility with standing up. My understanding is the seat size is the same size as standard height toilet seats. Unless you are much shorter than average the additional height shouldn't cause discomfort.

I would have a look at some of the Australian brands such as Caroma who have lots of older style pans, matched with more contemporary style, dual flush cisterns as a starting point.

Unfortunately toilet suites aren't like shoes that you can try before you buy, but perhaps keep an eye out for toilet suites that do work well for you in the homes of friends and family and take careful note of the ones that you do find that work for your particular requirements.

I would avoid any of the asian and european brands as they are sometimes more compact than the Australian brands, and avoid any of the contemporary styled ones that are non-traditional in shape. And don't let your plumber choose your toilet suite, as they are not all the same!

Put on a thin pair of pants and go sit on some in showrooms. If you can't due to distance look at your current seat style, is the seat area flat so that you sit more on than in, or narrow that you sit more in than on. Then look for something different. Try your neighbour's, the pub etc to see what style seat is better suited to you.
