Painting a brick wall

We have a large brick retaining wall in back yard which is quite ugly and are thinking of painting it or putting screens up on it. Any ideas on what colour to paint it or what to do with it would be great. It is visible from kitchen area so would be looking at it all the time. thanks Vicki

photos would help but a very dark grey fence looks great behind shrubs so that could also suit your wall

It is a peaked roof with Macracarpa beams that look out of date now. Dark deep wine coloured carpet with similar shades in the curtains. what would u suggest to paint the beams? alabaster like the ceiling, or quarter linen like the walls.
