Townsville kitchen transformation

This kitchen in Townsville, North Queensland, built in the 1980s, while neutral and non-offensive in colour for the time period, was well and truly due for a refresh when the clients came to us.

Warm browns and creams were traded for fresh whites, grey and black accent while still maintaining warmth with the beautiful solid timber floorboards.

The removal of the existing wall completely opened up the space which was emphasised with the fresh white, Smartstone bench top and wall cabinets. The grey feature island grounded the room, making the ceilings appear taller and broke up the other light coloured cabinets and tiles.

An extra bespoke element was added with enclosing and painting the load bearing posts as a Hamptons-style feature, rather than completing removing them for a more budget-friendly solution.

Simple, matt white tiles laid in a brick pattern with light grey grout provided subtle texture without taking attention away from the feature pieces. The client chose their own black appliances, tap ware and pendant lights which made added an industrial yet elegant feel to personalise the kitchen.
