Sorry !! It is the red chairs which need recovering!! I tried to edit but to no avail! The leather lounge suite is new and an oyster colour. There is one photo with the old black leather chairs. They have since been replaced with the red ones which are very good quality but need recovering. Just not sure what to bring out of the picture - I bought those two vases which pulled those colours out.

I do like your fuchsia/orchid/cranberry tones too, but it has to lean more towards the blue end as opposed to the red/orange end.

lighter red-violet end of the spectrum to pick up those tones in the artwork.

you could choose either color in the fabric

anyway, here are some chair colors in the cooler blues, which I think look lovely w/your flooring

teal above, and more of a periwinkle blue below.

I would do the chairs in deep eggplant or plum

I love your art piece but I think there are a few things that are making the room not pop. First the rug and sofa just blend into the flooring. I would bring in a dark blue rug. I am fond of the antelope rug as it can transition from modern to traditional and think it would add pop in your space

Your chairs seem out of proportion to your sofa. The high backs make the scale off and before you spend monty reupholstering them I would consider investing in two barrels style chairs, I would have them done in a slate blue color Colors on screen aren't exact and its showing much more green.

The side tables you have chosen look a bit small for the space and although I think they would work for smaller accent tables around the space or table stools I think you could use actual table that can hold a lamp

Your coffee table is very dark for the space too and I would consider a glass coffee table. I would also do something lighter for dining chairs .

Looks like you have a great start! And I love your unique art. Honestly I think the red chairs are great as is. You don't have to match a color in your art; you can bring those colors in with pillows or throws. Yes, you need a little table between the chairs but keep looking for the "one". And I think your coffee table should go the other way centered on the fireplace. And maybe get a chair for your little console and clear it a little so that it is purposeful for a laptop or a place to talk on the phone and take notes. I would try to reduce the decor (lamp, plants. candlestick) on the fireplace wall. Keep the climber man. I love that. Your kitchen stools look incredibly uncomfortable to me. Are they? Overall I think kind of minimalistic is the way to go in your clean modern space.

I think the dark bold colors are the most complimentary with your floors.

Houzz is at it again all the pictures aren't showing up! This slate blue fabric was supposed to be in the mix with the chairs to relate more of the color I was specifying.

I think you could go for blue or a deep purple. I love the suggestions given by others. I agree about the rug - maybe keep an eye out for a larger one on sale or second hand.

Once you get a great rug down it will anchor the room and it will not distract from the painting. The rugs I showed above although they have color the patterns are actually subtle and neutral. I would think about a glass coffee table in a square or even round shape.

I really like the neutral rug but it needs to be bigger...this Is with your Atlantic blue fabric posted..a deep plum looks beautiful and pull in touches of Salmon or burnt orange..I would do a white coffee table to pull it into room from all the white walls and kitchen stools...the neutral rug and sofa are what keep the room from not feeling cold..but inviting. their also is a wool rug suggestion on idea board....

I really like Pinks colors, especially the rug, it makes everything pop. The eggplant plum colors look nice with the blue. Not as much a fan of the red sorry. Edited for errors.

Kaz, I love your art piece over the fireplace ! I would suggest a bold contemporary rug . This one is wool.

Also, here are some chairs which I think bring a great colorway to the room. Sending them for a color spectrum only, because I think one really needs to sit in a chair to be able to choose the right one. I love the dining chairs HIWE sent, but even if you choose to keep yours, I think that really light color would be beautiful with a bold rug. —- Again, for color inspiration only -

I am blown away from down under by the help that you all have freely given .... thank you sooo much indeed. who would have thought after a year of anguish that I would be put out of my misery! If I do go for the atlantic for chairs I will bring in plum touches and vice versa. Will now need to go and find some plum that closely aligns with your suggestions. Thanks for saying we can keep table! It is a good solid NZ made oak one ... chairs were all the rage back about 18 years ago! Now need to go! I will put up a pic of a rug that was quite nice but rather expensive so ... might be in an hour or so. Thank you so much again.
