can you share a whole house plan to show how the bathroom fits with all the other rooms...do you need to include a bath, separate shower, toilet. laundry sink, vanity and washing machine?

Yes I'm with you on the "Keep conversation going between dining table and loo" YCK .

We can fix this BUT I would suggest to NOT do anything till you work out the whole house plan. If it is a muddle as you indicated you will not want to thro good money after bad by creating a fabulous bath/laundry if this then wants changing later. The thing about having sketch plan for whole house is that you can gather quotes to know what the bottom line is going to be to work towards it. Also how one area affect the next. It maybe that we can redesign this so the toilet is not off the kitchen which is actually not legal: it should have an air lock between.

So I suggest spread out the house plan, give us the north direction and where you are located, what you like and don't about the house, how many bods it houses, how long you think you will be there....all the nitty gritty! Then away we will go!! No fun living in a place that is not suiting your needs.

The plan is not to create a master piece, we are on budget and we need to address the problems now. I understand (and agree) the house layout is not ideal. But this is the design envelope I have now.

This bathroom serves primarily the two back bedrooms, where my kids sleep.

Move the door to where the towel rack currently is, put the toilet where the doorway currently is. It is then secreted out of sight. You could even put a barn door which rolled to cover the laundry or toilet. The towel rail could then go where the toilet is now placed. I would be putting a concealed (pocket) door as entry to wet area.

Sorry missed that the wall can’t be change. Suggest possibly switching toilet and laundry. Place toilet behind a plinth or wall, and see how the rest of the room works functionally. Maybe the laundry in the kitchen corner as per okLouise, shower in external corner and great functional bench, bowl, drawers etc along the external wall.

Thanks kbodman14 & oklouise, moving the door might be doable. I found this idea very intersting. Oklouise, maybe it was my fault for not sharing that we are considering a shower over the bath not having two separate units, so in your plan you managed to fit a shower and a bath (well done ahahah).

If that wall is load bearing and you are considering moving the door why not use longer beam to include the new doorway and kitchen laundry at the same time. The laundry could be made to look like part of the kitchen.

hi siriuskey. Thanks for this concept. Not sure if that works for us. Having the laundry in a contained space give as the ability to hang some clothes to dry (for example I do have tons of Gi - for martial arts - that sometimes I can't leave them outside drying and I can't put them in the tumble drier). Of course I can thing of having some sort of hanging section in the area you suggested. Thanks for your design, I'll really think about it.

You could consider a Hotel string retractable clothes line pulled across the bath between the window (airing) and opposite wall these are a great unobtrusive line you can even bath the kid s at the same time

The vanity is 1m wide

Bath and shower still sharing same space with a glass screen across the end of both including a glass door to contain water within the wet area.

I've got two configurations for you: The first thing to say is YOU NEED an air lock between bathroom and kitchen.

Doing anything to this weight supporting wall between kitchen and this room is ok with engineering and steel!

Plan A would work if the loo is in that exact place and hopefully the two doors will stop the dining/loo conversations.

I think I prefer Plan B. Yes it is a shower only but a 1200 x 900 and this plan has hinge doors which are cheaper, although for the kitchen/laundry you could use a CSD. They are out of the way when you want it open.

I like that both plans have heaps of storage options: I would suggest a dirty linen basket under trough (which could double as another vanity) No way the kids can miss putting the dead sox in the right place! Under bench washing machine frees the bench for sorting, folding, cat bed! under the bench can be dog bed, gardening stuff, sports equipment, etc, Then over head cupboards maybe 400 deep and 2100 long from 1400 above floor to ceiling (don't know what that is) with a rail under it to finish drying or airing clothes. The cupboard in either plan can be for linen, Chrissy tree, Hide and seek children, pantry or all of the above! And of course the vanity can have drawers/doors below bench.In plan B you could put a mirrored shaving cabinet into the wall, or Plan A would need to be proud of the wall because of the cavity sliding door.

I would love to see you use clear glass in both windows as the outlook onto the garden becomes the feature and of course the laundry can have a full length view.
