How to decorate around ugly blue and beige tiles in a rental?
Comments (28)Thanks all - our belongings arrive this week so I will have a go at transforming the space with what we have then search for new things to add. We have quite a bit of art with strong yellow colors and also a Tibetian Chest with yellows and greens. Thanks again!...See MoreSmall Media/sitting Room
Comments (24)Oh so cool you noticed that we're trying to achieve a french country/industrial look or did we write that somewhere? I've attached some other photos of a bedroom and the foyer (of those we've taken so far), but are absolutely open to suggestions on a "beachy" feel as well or instead of. Although because its a beach house we don't want to go over board on expense and hence keeping what we already have, and just adding personality to it, if you get what we mean. Comments (91)Sorry I am so late coming to your site - you are an inspiration to all, homeowners and advisers alike. For your planting advice, I suggest you call Merrifield Garden Center to see if they will come out your way. They currently have wonderful garden centers in Merrifield and Fairfax (both in Fairfax County) and a new one in Gainesville, but they may come further south to wherever you reside. (www.MerrifieldGardenCenter.com) Even if they don't send designers to your area, they are worth a trip to see their huge selection for a day of pleasure and inspiration, or to pick up some plants. Most of my clients are in the Fairfax and greater Washington area, but I am currently living out west below Front Royal, VA on the Shenandoah mountainside - wonderful views. cascio.offsite@gmail.com...See MoreBathroom and laundry placement - help please
Comments (2)Hi there! Based on what you've shared, it seems like you're facing a dilemma when it comes to the placement of your bathroom and laundry. If natural light and ventilation are a concern, I would recommend considering the use of highlight glazing in both rooms. By doing so, you can allow natural light to filter through both spaces, and the laundry's internal windows could provide additional light to the hallway. However, without seeing more of the floor plan and understanding the adjacent spaces, it's difficult to make more specific recommendations. While external windows are ideal for wet areas, it's not always feasible to add them to every room. But, there are other solutions to consider, such as frosted glazing in internal doors, that can still provide some level of natural light. Ultimately, I suggest consulting with a design professional to help you weigh your options and find a solution that works best for your needs and preferences. Good luck with your project!...See Moreblurock
