Need help with my lounge

We are renovating our lounge and need some help. The wallpaper we have is tending towards yellow, the new carpet is a very light cream, my husband won't let me paint the beams in the ceiling and the ceiling is white. The lounge is an odd shape approx measurements 7 metres by 5 metres with an alcove where the fireplace is. There is a window beside the fireplace and a large window the left on the same wall. Any ideas for layout? We have a really cool sliding door to the kitchen which has an oriental look being obscure with rectangular wood dividers in dark wood. Lighting is also one of our dilemmas. Any ideas? I can't see it -help.

Your space is quite roomy at almost 23 feet by 16 feet 5 inches.

It would help us to see all four walls. Is this going to be an area where you will eat as well as watch TV?

(I like the idea of painting the ceiling a light blue or yellow.) You need to have table lamps and or floor lamps as well. If those are light fixtures on the beam, I would remove them and repair the beam. Would you husband be open to staining the beams darker? Something like this:

A fireplace mantel like the one in the Crisp photo would finish off the fireplace.

With yellow and cream, you could go with warm colors, browns reds and oranges or blues and green.

Well the piece above the fireplace really overwhelms the space, and most specifically the fireplace. Is there another wall space anywhere that can showcase it? trying to use this piece in such a small area makes everything else lose its appeal, it has to fight to be seen. For sure move the sofa where it faces the fireplace, or set at an angle facing where you hv the TV set to be mounted. If you can, leave the chair in the same area, use the table the TV is sitting on as a coffee table for both. The way that makes the space work is the way you need it.

hi, I have been working on the same type of project for my teen recently and from my perspective the room need color. like what you could do is add colored pillows like to the white couch add two colored pillows and for the red add colors that go nice with red, and another suggestions would be to add curtains to the room. also you could add colored rugs but the thing about adding color to the room is you have to make sure it looks good together! good luck

You could lay a nice curved shape garden by the corner of fence and plant layers starting with 2-3 mtr trees at back down to 50-70 cm high plants at front. This will soften the fence line and give you something to look at while on the slab. Something for the kids also like a small structure to play in, on and around would complete a nice family back yard.
