updating my bedroom
Comments (8)For me, your bedroom is missing two things - style cohesion and texture. For starters, I would replace the white pillow with two of these: [houzz=] Your bedside lamps are nice, but now with the gray comforter they need a new style: [houzz=] There's an outlet right where a headboard would go, so instead, I like this art over your bed: [houzz=] or if you prefer some color and something quirky: [houzz=] For curtains, see if you like any of these: [houzz=] or [houzz=] or [houzz=] For nightstands, try these: [houzz=] If you decide to paint your wall charcoal gray, be sure to add art with color behind the bed....See MoreLooking for help on bedrooms layout
Comments (29)I think the first layout is fine. You might want to consider moving the door for the storage room of the master bedroom so that it opens into the hall. That way the kids can use it for overflow storage. Also, that hallway is big enough that I think it could hold a large armour, providing more closet space. (There's no need to sleep in the same room as your clothes, so long as they're not too far off.) Also, don't forget that while the drawing shows kids in double beds, this need not be the case, so there will be more room for furniture (dressers or whatever) in their rooms. Finally, that step to bedroom 4 will not be odd at all. I've seen it in other homes. It looks clumsy in the drawing but it isn't. What you'll see when you come up the stairs is a bedroom door on a slight diagonal. It's only an odd jagged step if you walk like a robot, in straight lines along the wall, which is what your eye is doing on the drawing but you won't do in real life....See MoreNeed help with art above bed
Comments (4)I could see a set of three pictures with white or silver frames and anything really that just incorporates your room's color. Make sure they are large enough to fill most of the width. You may also want to add more pillows and large shams type pillows for a more interesting and complete look. Your lamps are a bit too small (see lamps' proportions in pictures). Hope this helps....See MoreMy bedroom
Comments (2)Work with teen for the grand plan! Put in this website search box: teen... Look at teen magazines at the library for cool ideas. Think about colors, shapes, patterns. Your creativity has no barriers! Use two color combos that are easy to mix and match. Paint walls, furniture, etc. Think outside the box. Paint a desk two different colors - one on the frame and the other on the drawers. Paint an all over pattern on a tall skinny section of a wall. If you don't want to commit to paint yet, see what it'll look like with dollar store wrapping paper taped to wall. Make pretend wallpaper with paint and a stencil. "Shop" in your house before you go out. Sometimes we have stuff in one room (or basement/attic) that can be used in another. Look for fun, kitschy, or unique items, for visual interest, and for conversation pieces Go to garage sales and thrift stores for big picture books. Use for prints for wall art. Get frames there also, or at dollar store. Get dollar store wrapping paper that is really pretty, interesting, or geometric. Frame it for wall art. Look for bulletin boards at garage sales. Paint frame and use dollar store wrapping paper for cork part. Attach with rubber cement or similar glue. Look for throw at garage sales or thrift store in bright color. Fold long way and put at end of bed. Build a wish list and take it with you when you go out....See MoreG S
