So you don’t like character. That’s ok. I’d start slowly. Leave the bricks and remove the scalloping detail on the eaves and the fretwork on the awnings, replacing the supports with something simpler. Simplify the colour scheme and remove the arbour at front and relandscape. Then take stock. Good luck

The driveway , with the yellowy cream line , matches the house , I'd leave both , in fact I love the character .

That little walkway roof is weird . Firstly , it looks like it slopes . The roof is a different green to the house . And none of the style matches -- its frustrating to me , because I like the idea , hate the execution .

And all the painted colours across the whole house look old .

So , here's my thoughts . Leave the bricks and drive exactly as they are . Fix the walkway roof thing -- make it level . Everything that is creamy yellow repaint in crisp white -- it will look clean , not aged . And paint the roof , including the walkway roof . I'd go for a dark steel blue -- almost a charcoal with a blue tinge . The guttering and scalloping I'd keep in that dark maroony red , but I'd also do the garage door surround in that too , to tie it in ( the garage looks like a later addition , well done but it just needs a bit to tie it in with the house IMO ) . I'd leave the garage door as it is .

The only other thing I'd do is a couple of hanging plants along the front terrace woodwork -- I'd leave the front door area clear , but the adjacent 2 I'd add a plant to each .

Thanks everyone. Much appreciated. Liking the general vibe of not rendering, but starting with painting out the cream in white. We hate the cream front windows but hadn't thought of replacing them. Great ideas. :)

rip out the covered walkway immediately. It's too twee.
As others have said, leave the bricks until last and remove fussy details. Then paint remaining, simplified trims in black.
Take stock again and see what needs doing next after that.

Also remove the red scalloped edges which stick out like a sore thumb.
Agree with others that cream details could be either black or white. Do a Photoshop mock-up to compare.
it's even possible to paint aluminium window frames these days. And consider getting roof sprayed as well.

I would work with what you’ve got. But you can paint aluminium windows. It’s fiddly and a proper result will require work. Bunnings have workshops. YouTube has videos. Three Birds Renovating has examples. Good luck.

You say this is a 1990's house . Its made to look like a 1930's house at present . To make it look 'modern' would take a lot of work , and IMO destroy the character of the house . Embrace what it is , tidy it and change the focus slightly , but personally I wouldn't take off the scrolls and those little posts , or even the walkway roof .

Just my opinion , but if you want modern , you sell what you have and buy a modern place in grey on grey on grey , with charcoal -- there are more than enough unique points on this house that you either embrace it or you sell it .

It's in central Victoria - hot in summer, moderately cold in winter..

And it's not an original 1912

Got some good advice- keep the brick, simplify, remove the nasty garden “arch”, exchange cream for white, then reassess the green if it needs to go further
