Painting corrugated iron.

Hi, hope everyone is safe and well. Here in New Zealand we have just started four weeks of isolation. So home projects are bout to begin. We are building a garden shed bar on a budget and went and brought some pre painted sheets of corrugated iron. As these were seconds they came in multiple colors, we are going to paint them black. Do I need to give them a sand before painting?
The man at the shop said these would be better than the bare iron as would not need to weather or prime.
