The chairs are a good match. Leather is probably best, great for kids' spills and accidents, but any fabric will do. Not sure on purple with green - those two colours together clash a bit for me. The green kitchen looks great, and I'm a fan of dark wood. The only thing throwing it off at the moment is the yellowish coloured walls. If they were repainted a soft white, this would make the green and the dark wood really pop, giving you a fresh and sophisticated, calm look which I think would work well. You could then upholster in a green to match the kitchen which would look appealing. Finish it off by some fresh white flowers as accents in the room to draw the eye and you've got a beautifully transformed space with a fabulous feature dining area :)

HI -- Congratulations on your new home . Find a furniture store that has a designer on staff . They will help you with choices and your budget . And what is best about this is you can buy -"on approval " . This means if you get a sofa and then it doesn't fit the space or you don't like the way it looks , then it goes back to the store and so on . You will have to pay for delivery . Maybe think about having a bench for seating against the wall in the dining room , so the table can move over towards the wall to make a roomier pathway to the living room. Looks like you have the room for a three seat sofa and two lounge chairs or a lounge end sofa or a modular sectional .

Hi Jennifer K, thanks for your comments. The photos you have posted are really lovely but not really suited to our environment and house, which I know is impossible to tell from one photo. We have built a modern farmhouse on 10 acres. That room looks out to beautiful green countryside and the river below. The dining room is a bit of a feature and is completely different to the rest of our relaxed lodgey style house but I don't want it to be too modern, if that makes sense. The photos have given me a few ideas so thank you so much for your help!

Hi, Bailey. I just took a stroll through page 1 of your ideabook and see that your style is transitional, but you do like a bit of quirk. You've got the perfect house for it, clean and simple, it can go any way you want. First, select furniture with an eye to maximize the views. Here's a room from your ideabook that does that. Once you've decided what pieces you need and where they will go, find the room in your ideabook that has the exact feeling you want and use it to inform the styles and colors you choose, Put everything you're thinking of buying (along with stuff you already have) on an inspiration board, then swap things in and out as you work to complete your design. Don't buy any big stuff till your design is mostly complete. Nothing worse than falling in love with and buying a rug, and then finding there is nothing else in the whole wide world that goes with it.
