House in Bardon, owner-occupier.

As part of extended renovations throughout their home, this client was looking to create a kitchen to suit, that would brighten this corner of their open plan living space and be aesthetically pleasing.

They opted for a slightly decorative panel with a few light traditional details, without compromising the modern Hamptons style of the entire house.

Lighter tones and hues of white assisted in brightening up the space and the seating zone off the island bench makes the kitchen a welcoming hub of the home.

Materials: Two pac finish with routed ‘Keimbah’ Style 5 door profile by Polytec60% semi-gloss finish in Resene ‘Merino’ / Caesarstone ‘Bianco Drift’ bench tops

Yes the new kitchen looks wonderful. Was that a window behind the black blind? And as usual, if the before photo had a bench without stuff all over it, and a fridge without a hundred photos on it, then that kitchen would have looked okay as well. Maybe a light coloured blind to fit window, would have improved the look as well.

Dreamer, with all due respect, I think it’ll take more than changing the colour of a blind to improve the original kitchen. The new update improves bench space and flow considerably. For instance the BEFORE area around the stove is tight and the position of the pantry is smack bang in the middle of the engine of the kitchen. IMO if you haven’t got the luxury of a walk-in pantry, then it’s best to have the pantry and the fridge at the ends of this style of kitchen, if possible, especially if you have hungry teenagers and large grocery shopping to unload. The NEW kitchen does it for me.

Nick and Rie wanted to up lighten and modernise their tired kitchen space without compromising on storage and functionality. Their outdated kitchen had cream coloured cabinetry & terracotta tiles on the floor. It was given a stunning black and white makeover by Kitchen Mania! Michelle and Jeremy live in a 3-bedroom weatherboard house built in the 90’s, and was very much still stuck in the 90’s! Michelle is a great baker, often whipping something up on request; she juggles working in an accounting office and being a mum, while Jeremy works in IT. They are famous for their potluck dinners and often having BBQ’s into the colder months. Our expert designer Mark, moved the existing fridge location from the middle of the room to a wall cavity, instantly creating a better flow and opening up the kitchen. With a splash of colour on the back wall which wrapped around to the side wall, it gave the whole room a fresh feeling in keeping with the Hamptons look the couple were after. This stunning kitchen has Snowdrift White Cabinetry and a Pewter laminate bench top. The bar back is a vinyl wrapped tongue and groove patterned panel giving the kitchen a stately Hampton's look. Glad they like it. I'm tired of seeing the same kitchen over and over though. Will be nice when some other trend takes over.

The first kitchen looks like someone actually lives there. Although, it does look a bit dated underneath the everyday detritus. The new kitchen looks like a showroom kitchen (still nice). Personally, I like a bit more colour but it’s not my kitchen and if the clients are happy then that’s all that’s really important.
