Need help with Bathroom renovation

Hi everyone can you please help me with the following questions with our bathroom renovation - in removing all the tiles from our existing bathroom renovation all of the render behind the tiles came off the brickwork also - do you think it is necessary to re-render all the brickwork in the shower and bathroom before waterproofing and re-tiling? Or would you use a waterproof plasterboard instead and then waterproof on top of that?

Second question is - we have to replace windows in the bathroom, so would we render/plasterboard before or after the new windows are installed?

I have been told to get some professional advice. After searching on the internet. I have come to know about Eastern Suburbs Bathroom Renovations who are near to me house. It might cost a bit to have professionals come in. So I decided to get some advice from the experts of this community considering this might save some money.

Sounds like you have quite an involved bathroom renovation and would highly recommend using a professional, Builder, Plumber or Bathroom Company. Do get several quotes, you will most likely be amazed by the difference. Ask to see previous works completed and if possible speak to the owners.

Bathrooms and kitchens can be very expensive rooms and not a great area for a novice to start, but do watch and learn for a possible further bathroom renovation. Good Luck

I have been using the Sherwin Williams paint color SW6222 Riverway. I used it in a dining room in Florida, kitchen hearth in Kansas and here in the store in a display. It is fairly saturated, but works well with lots of other accent colors.

If you are looking to keep the "period" look, then I say no. My place is from 1916 & had a gross 1980's reno. I ripped out all the ugly vinyl floor & cheap Sears sink & went with a black hex floor, white subway, dark grey grout on both. Toilet & tub were original, but I got an old "Standard" wall mount sink with chrome legs & towel bars & an antique medicine chest, light fixtures & glass shelving & towel bar off Ebay. My total job...about $5k. Help my tile guy is my neighbor, but those 10, 15, 20k bathrooms were out of the question.

thank you for your comment. we are looking at using the interior wall, opposite the sink, for ceiling height cupboards utilising the wall cavities so as not to crowd the thoroughfare. I will keep a look out for replacement wooden windows. i would like to move them to the left so as to create more space in the corner area for hopefully a fridge? what to do with the fridge?

the challenge with a bathroom is that there are so many special trades involved and very little is suitable for DIY... a specialist bathroom company should be able to coordinate everyone to make sure that they all arrive in the correct sequence and, if it were my bathroom, i would probably ask the pros to check the condition of the wall and new window and decide accordingly..bathrooms are never cheap but money can be saved by doing the hidden work properly, choose good quality fixtures and economise on decoration that can be replaced as fashions change

Like everything there are the good and bad in every trade, I have seen a friend have a very bad experience with a Bathroom speciality company and others excellent with a builder and his trades as long as you have your design sorted, could be difficult to get a builder for a smallish job after the terrible fires

Set out your bathroom including shower, the sill of your window relative to shower, if shower under window.....However, exterior of widow needs to be considered.

Brick suggests a new lintel above the window

Have new window in before doing any more work
Plumbing and electrical rough ins before RENDERING

Rendering by a good renderer will ensure the quickest method to " plumb " walls ..one day about $ 1,000....Organise your tiler BEFORE Rendering, some tilers render, or my " brother-in-law renders " ( A great option ) A tiler can only tile as good as the walls permit !

Rendering....Waterproofing...Tiling ...Fit Out....Shower screen ( never be talked into buying a shower screen from a fixture business...ONLY have shower screen measured AFTER tiling is completed
