We had a free-standing fireplace in the house we recently bought. We decided to remove it because we were worried about emissions and also that might damage the new wood flooring. But now before blocking the chimney, I am thinking twice if we made the right decision. Does having a wood-burning fireplace impact on the resale value of the house in Melbourne? We do not plan to sell the house anytime soon but we might rent it out after a few years.
