Just a few things to consider. Front doors are special doors, and I think they always look great if you paint the same colour on the outside and on the inside, as well as the edges. That way you never have the problem of where to start and finish the outside colour, and there is no messy edging where two colours meet.
Your whole exterior could do with a freshen up as it is looking a bit tired and dated to be honest. I would not paint your front door until you have worked out your colours for the rest of the house. I would use the brickwork as a starting point, as you would not want to paint your brickwork, and find colours that are complementary to your brickwork. Part of your external colour solution will include a front door colour that works with the rest of your new external colour scheme.
If it was my home I would be considering a soft green, like a light Eucalyptus colour as a starting point to complement and off-set the strength of the terracotta brickwork for my external colours, and perhaps a deeper, darker Eucalyptus colour for the door.
If you can't visualise how colours work then you may be best engaging a colour consultant to help you prepare as colour schedule explaining what colours should go where if you decide to update the front of your house beyond just the front door.
I'm sort of with Dr Retro , particularly about the whole of house approach .
To me , the garage door lets down the look more than the front door . With the bricks , I'd go a mid red on both the garage and the front door . But here's my dilema -- I would like to do the scrolls on the door in the gold highlights , but then it would look different to the garage door .
So I'd actually completely change the garage door as a first step , and go with a 'period' tilt-a-door or panel door in 1 or even 4 sections , with matching scrolls and windows to the entrance door . THEN I'd do them ( the front door and the garage door ) in the mid red .
All the white and beige I'd also repaint , going crisp white and English white .
The roof is a bit of a nothing colour ( some would say neutral ) and its hard to tell its condition , but that may be my next step -- go for quite a light charcoal or light steel blue just for a bit of a lift and interest .
The whole idea is to make the house look like 1 cohesive unit IMO -- at present it looks like a pleasant house with a basic garage stuck on the end .
