Kitchen Pendant lights

Hi All,

Please suggest pendant lights for this kitchen. I have added photos of 2 types of pendants we liked. Both of them are complete opposite so we are open for any other recommendations. The floor is laminate - grey oak, kitchen cupboards - walnut and appliances silver.

Lots of light as there are windows all around.

Picture 4 is the area outside kitchen - a family room and picture 5 will is dining table we have. the dining area is to the left of the kitchen.

Mess being a construction site.

I prefer the first option. Understated and elegant. I think they go well with the table that has a big personality. Looking good. I love walnut cabinetry

Hi Mick, love your choices, that dining table is fabulous, I would look for something a little different to compliment your beautiful space, few inspiration photos.

Two lights are better, but if you use thee pendants, then position the two stools should be in the middle of the center and end lights.Although they will look very huge. Pictures would help.

When you're doing lighting in a kitchen it's a good idea to have good directed light over the main tasks areas, cooking, dishwashing, food prep. You could achieve this with downlights directed at those areas, or track lighting where you can direct/angle each of the lights on the track. Re the pendant over sink area, would need to be at a height that ensures safety - water & electricity, not a good combo. There may be some NZ standards that you can refer to, to get the correct info.

Hi Julie, thank you for your advice and compliments. liked the option 2 and 4. Can you please guide as to where are these available from.

Also I am a fan of single string instead of 3 individual pendants.

For actually being able to see what you are doing, the slim long bar type one above that Julie Herbert posted is excellent - we had it in our last house. Lots of pendants are more decorative than functional.
