Thank you for your help, I had never questioned my taste until a recent visitor commented on my lack of color! I like the look of the mongolian lambs wool cushions-have not seen here in New Zealand, I will have to search. Thanks for the reminder about mirror, it mostly does reflect the dresser but yes the doors are focal too, I hadn't noticed. I used to have more height on the living area coffee table but when I removed the Television and hung the vintage ceiling tiles (photo attached) on the wall the height interrupted them from another angle (not photographed). Our house is located semi rural with bush and water views, with this being quite focal in the lounge (with the wall paper) which is why I have not hung art. With this (as photographed below) would you still hang something? Really appreciate you all taking the time to answer. Thanks.

Hi There, Not sure if you are still looking for art/canvas for your space, but I'd thought id share my work with you. I'm a contemporary Aboriginal Artist located in Newcastle NSW. The first thing I would do is switch your light fixture to track lighting. That way you can focus the light onto that wall much like what is done in an art gallery. I also think that may stop the reflection you are getting. I think putting cabinets on the long wall will really close in the space. I would make your red wall your gallery wall. I'd frame everything in white so they "pop" off the wall. The problem with the other wall being the gallery wall is that it's just to narrow. You can't really stand back far enough to see the art.

Hi. My instinct is to use a set of pictures of a consistent style and theme -- and I'm thinking photographs. I think b/w pics would look wonderful, but not with the pendant light you have. So if that is staying, I'd prefer more feminine and colourful pics. If you were to use b/w, I think a slim black frame and a matte that picks up the grey of the wall would be great to transition between that and the photographic grey. Colour could get away with no matte, but I'd still suggest a very slim black frame to outline the images.
