Hey guys, this side area/driveway through to old garage is just so depressing to look at. any idea on how to make it fresh and add some greenery? any tips much appreciated!
paint the timber fence dark grey and depending on the direction of sun a climber growing on the fence (eg clematis or jazzmine or potato vine?) store the ladder against the house out of site from inside..and, depending on how often you need to drive down the driveway, consider some potted plants eg bamboo growing in garbage bins or similar to screen the view
then make it feel like an alfresco area with a cafe table and umbrella with a potted garden eg bamboo, palms, flowers, vege garden..will make a nice view from inside and galvanised garbage bins make great tall pots (half fill with broken styrofoam or bean bag filling encased in sarlon to make them lighter ) and easy to move around with a small furmniture trolley or check out local recylce centres for old pots that can be painted to suit your colours
Clean and weed pavers, this will make a huge difference and highlight the area, charcoal paint on timber fence as suggested, a day bed /bench would look fabulous, surround with raised planters mass planted to look lush and inviting , a pergola would add to an extra living area, a garden structure on cream brick wall would look great, love oklouise‘a idea of table and chairs and market umbrella, very cosmopolitan.
pressure wash the **out of those bricks. They have nice character, I would leave them.
But you could take out about 60cm of brick from the fence line and add a nice fast growing hedge like a murraya or verbernum. OR some white pebbles or light wood chips and plant some yukkas and cordylines.
Get rid of the ladder lol
But in a malibu wood gate.
Paint the shed grey and have the garage door painted monument and roof as well.
Cheers
Julie
