First Time Potential Rennovators

Hi

My wife and I are considering lifting and building in our postwar house in Brisbane. We have had a lot of conflicting advice. Aside from "Have a firm idea of what you want and contact a drafts man", I'm really not sure where to start.

Firstly I would like some advice in the form of a ballpark figure to lift and build in underneath of a stilted post-war. (Our house is already on stilts but underneath is dirt and not legal height). We would ideally like to lift high enough and build underneath to create a two storied home.

We would be dealing with; asbestos removal, replacement of plumbing and wiring, new kitchen (we would not be going extravagant), new bathrooms.

We hope to keep the original footprint of the home and not to remove any windows (current front door would need closing in).

Neither of us are 'handy' so our physical contributions would be minimal (painting...?).

Secondly, after contacting a drafts man and getting plans drawn up, what would be my next step?

Many thanks in advance.
