Pls help... adjoining protection works

Hi
Council made me do adjoining protection works with my neibour but I have decided to build 200mm off the fence and the neibours house is atleast 900 away from his fence so atleast 1100 between both house so do we still need protection works??

I’m having serious trouble hearing back from the council and hopefully someone here can shed some light

For my new build if my house is atleast 1 metre away from the neibours house is protection work no longer needed?

Or if my house is less then a metre away from the fence line it is needed?

Or does it only count for the distance between house walls?
Does the fence have nothing to do with it?

Country Victoria

Thanks

yes you will still have to do it for the building site quite often it's just tapping off from the street to warn people to keep out "Danger building site" etc (siriuskey)

In accordance to comply with building regulations, a building must be positioned either on or within 150mm of a boundary, or 1m off the boundary. Anything in between will require council consent to vary the regulation, unless there is an overriding planning application in place. Hard to comment without understanding the context in more detail...
