what color linens and quilt cover

hi there,

I would appreciate some help.

I need to give my bedroom a new look,

queen bed, timber, dark brown, contemporary style,two bedside table and a dresser with mirror,

feature wall behind the bedhead in light brown (called Donkey color !!).

what color linen and quilt cover you suggest?

I would Like to have lots of cushions as well.

Should I stick to white quilt cover and change the cushions every now and then?

I get bored easily and would like changes :)

I love white bedding that way it always looks fresh and beautiful, then you can change your pillows and throws when you want a change, also love just pure white on occasions for a serene stylish look.

I agree with Julie above, white is such a great staple for bedding, get a pair of grey sheets too so you can mix and match the grey with the white sheets. I think the introduction of rich browns, greys and caramels would be best.

Oh, okay, may need to clarify some more. If you get a new 2 seater in place of the 2 white chairs, fine, but no blue chair at all next to the 'new' 2 seater. Won't be right with a blue chair too. So what ones are you planning to recover?. If getting rid of part of it, not understanding. 2 different styles placed next to each other won't look right. I wouldn't like old blue fabrics next to new fabrics or next to 2 different styles of furniture. New 2 seater and old blue chair next to each other, not good :)

Hi anne, that's what I was originally thinking, my issue is what colour I use for the 'pop' :) I keep coming back to a teal/turquoise colour (it's one of my favourite colours!!), I love blues, purples, teal/turquoise - many on here have suggested yellow but I'm really not sure about it. Here in New Zealand we're in Autumn, nearing Winter so uncertain about the yellow. I found these cushions that I've fallen in love it, and wondering how I could make these work.. do I try teal and mustard together, as an interior designer suggested?

Awesome Houzzers, thanks for the responses. Overwhelming consensus seems to be that they dont work (at least without distressing the table, which sounds complicated). I am now thinking maybe I move the sofa upstairs and buy it a new coffee table along the lines suggested by maureen and lee lee (thanks). In the living room, I could then leave the oak coffee table, together with the armchair that works with it (it has a similar oak frame and is covered in natural linen). Then I can find a new sofa to match the coffee table. Any tips? The coffee table is 1200 x 1200mm. You guys seem to think that is ginormous - how big would the sofa need to be to look proportional? I am thinking of an L shaped sectional. Possibly also in some kind of natural linen fabric? The living room is big (5m x 8m?). Thanks again - much appreciated!

no problem, so are you saying that wall is closest, but stronger, do you think it might like a smokey teal? that is very in right now, or is it like the grayed out turquoise on the coverlet? Grey would be a wonderful accent with that. Have you thought of making your headboard? So amazingly simple? Give yourself like a nice padded gray? Could go for a silk or velvet? oh do you have dark hairy people? you know like black retrievers or something? that could be a problem. If you put covered buttons, there is actually a little tool (under $10 does it all for you. really glam it up. do these help? I think i would go with light gray or a variation of the wall color. let me know when you are ready for more. Couple ideas for bedside stands, first 2 less than $100, last one idea for alternative.

Hi Wish,

I agree with the above about doing white as a staple.

If you feel like a change up you could also explore some textured bedding and play around with some softer tones of pinks, purples and blues to play off the dark wall. I also love greys and blacks as well.

I dont know what your setup looks like exactly but if you can afford to buy multiple sets of linens go for it!

Below is a job I did for a client where they wanted to keep their white bedding and just accessorize, the options are endless:
