Take the tiling to the ceiling, then paint the bulkhead bit a really bright blue or emerald green?

Are your tiles white? From the photo they look cream against your white cabinets. This is making the room a bit creamy. Not fresh like yellow and white should be. But this may be the photo on my computer screen.

To me the item that stands out is the grey door. I think this needs to be painted a crisp white, the same as the cabinets.

Agree door the same as cabinets, all the trim too. And I’d do the walls in a similar tone to the tiles and bench - they look to work well together (but colours are hard on the screen). Let your tiles be a feature. Plus some art to tie together (this insp from Etsy).

Going by the photo colours I would match the walls to the door greyish colour still using white for trims

Tiles are Matt white and yes we are planning to do the door in white same as all the trim.

I painted my bathroom years ago yellow like that. It is a little much.
Well done with the yellow grout. I agree with big reader. Let the grout shine, paint your walls to match cabinets and add some art with yellow to tie in. And maybe a cushion or two similar accent.
It’s annoying to have to repaint, but sometimes we have to experiment, I have a friend who is a painter and he has redone his living room 3 times and I think they are now happy with colour.

I'll be the critical one -- that isn't bold , it isn't yellow . It looks like something like Sunflower or Buttercup or something half-baked . If you had been bold , you'd have gone Shiny Bright Yellow and it would have stood out ! Look at bigreaders picture -- even that isn't bright yellow , but it looks a lot brighter and more positive !

Just a thought though -- go out and buy a dozen black gloss subway tiles , and a pack of BluTac , and position them horizontally around the top of the white tiles , and step back . Does that lift everything ? Can you afford the $36 or whatever the tiles cost ? Okay -- now attach them and grout them if you like them . Or don't if you don't .

I would go white walls, let your tiles and yellow grout shine. Add yellow and charcoal accessories for a fab look.

Get some big bits of cheap canvas board, sample pots and experiment, pale lime, white and what ever. My pick would be a sherbet lime dulux lime sherbet in half strength to give a zing of freshness.
